JULIE TAM has won competitions and performed around the world in front of audiences at Disney World (Orlando, FL), as well as in San Diego, New Orleans, Houston, Louisville, the Philippines, and many more places. By age three, Julie was singing and dancing to Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, and Peter, Paul and Mary. In 5th grade, she discovered she loved opera – her other art of choice was ballet. During high school, Julie trained in classical voice in Rice University's Shepherd School of Music Preparatory Program. She competed locally and statewide in the Texas Association of Private & Parochial Schools (TAPPS), representing her school, Second Baptist. Julie won the gold medal in the Houston female vocal solo competition and won the bronze medal twice at the state level. Julie also won the state silver medal for vocal trio performance, for which she sang the alto voice part. Weighing just 100 lbs. and wearing a size 0, Julie's petite frame makes her unique among female opera singers. Julie's repertoire includes songs in English, Italian, French, Spanish, German, Chinese, and Latin. It was near the beginning of college at Rice University that Julie discovered her non-operatic voice, so she started singing pop and jazz music, too. She continues to perform arias, cantatas, pop music, and other musical numbers, when organizations request for her to make public appearances. |
