Julie Tam, a Chinese-American born in Houston, is a news anchor/reporter for WDRB-TV FOX 41 in Louisville, KY – covering the Metro area and southern Indiana, with a total population of more than 1 million. In February 2005, Julie survived the Smith County Courthouse shooting and delivered live, eyewitness reports for her station at the time, KLTV-TV ABC 7 in Tyler, TX, as well as CNN and news/talk radio stations in San Francisco and Dallas. Her work helped earn her station two Emmy Awards. Julie also has covered other events that have made national headlines on CourtTV and XM Satellite Radio. After just two months of reporting experience, Julie already received the Honorable Mention for "Best Reporter" from Texas Associated Press Broadcasters. Numerous publications have featured her. Julie spent her college years producing and reporting for News 24 Houston and hosting two seasons of a news magazine show on KUHT-TV PBS 8 in Houston. Julie earned a B.A. in Economics from Rice University. She is fluent in four languages (and proficient in or familiar with several others). She has traveled around the U.S. and the world – 15 countries on four continents, with more to come. Julie is an award-winning soprano classical singer, danced with the Houston Ballet Academy for 10 years, modeled live and in print, and was a 3-time Texas spelling bee champion (one-time 2nd place).
